My child already receives Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) so why should I apply for Free School Meals (FSM)?
FSM also entitles your child to free milk over the age of 5 (UIFSM does not)
FSM will continue after your child has left infants. UIFSM will stop when your child leaves infants.
FSM is often provided when the government closes schools such as for the pandemic lockdowns and during school holidays. UIFSM is never provided at these times.
FSM entitlement is often used as an eligibility criteria for accessing other services. UIFSM has no additional benefits
FSM entitles your child's school to additional funding in the form of the Pupil Premium Grant to improve the school's overall provision.
