Finding an early years provider when your child is too young for Reception

Children who have not yet had their fourth birthday are too young to attend school.  However there are plenty of nursery and pre-schools around who will provide childcare and help to prepare your child for the routines and leaning in reception when the time is right.  Many nurseries link with schools to help the transition of children from their setting to ours.  A list of nurseries in the local area and wider borough can be found below.

We do not have a nursery in Whybridge Infants, but there is a private pre-school in a leased building on our grounds.  They are Little Rascals (linked here) and they can be contacted independently if you would like to apply for a place with them.  There is no automatic transfer from Little Rascals to Whybridge Infants but most of their children do apply for a place with us when the time comes around and we work with their staff to ensure a smooth transition.

We also typically have applications in our Reception year from pupils who have attended:

  • Brittons Daycare
  • Bretons Preschool
  • St Jons Preschool
  • The Cottage Preschool
  • Cornerstone Academy
  • Growing Pains Preschool

You can find all of these and more on the link here:

The links above are early years providers in South Hornchurch, filtered to show those who cater for:

  • 2 year olds 15 hour offer
  • 3/4 year olds universal 15 hour offer
  • 3/4 year olds extended 30 hour offer (working parents)
  • Tax free childcare (working parents)

There are many other providers across Havering and they can be searched and filtered here according to your own circumstances:
